AYSO

Volunteer with AYSO
AYSO is Powered by Volunteers
Every AYSO program is built by volunteers. From coaches and referees to team parents and board members, volunteers help create the positive, safe, and supportive environment that makes AYSO special.
When you volunteer with AYSO, you're doing more than helping run a soccer program. You're helping children build confidence, learn teamwork, stay active, develop friendships, and create lifelong memories through sports.

  • Why Volunteer?

AYSO exists because of volunteers. Every game, practice, and player experience is made possible by dedicated parents, family members, and community supporters who give their time to help children succeed both on and off the field. AYSO is one of the largest volunteer-run youth sports organizations in the country, and volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

    Volunteering is an opportunity to:

    • Make a positive impact on young athletes
    • Support your local community
    • Build lasting friendships with families and volunteers
    • Be part of your child's soccer experience
    • Help create a fun and safe environment for players
    • Give back to the game and the next generation of athletes

No matter how much time you can give, your contribution helps strengthen the AYSO experience for every player and family.

  • Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to get involved in AYSO, depending on your interests, skills, and availability. Whether you can volunteer occasionally or take on a larger role, there are opportunities to make a meaningful impact on the player experience.

    Coaches

AYSO coaches help players develop skills, confidence, teamwork, and a love of the game. No previous coaching experience is required, and training is provided to help volunteers succeed.

    Referees

Referees help create a safe, fair, and enjoyable environment for players. AYSO provides referee training and support for volunteers at every experience level.

    Youth Referees

The AYSO Youth Referee program provides players with opportunities to develop leadership skills, earn community service hours, build confidence, and stay involved in the game.

    Team Support & Leadership

Many AYSO Regions also rely on volunteers to serve as team parents, board members, event volunteers, field crews, and program coordinators. Volunteer opportunities may vary by your local AYSO Region.

  • Training & Support

You do not need soccer experience to become an AYSO volunteer.

AYSO provides free training, resources, and certification programs designed to help volunteers feel confident and prepared in their role. Many volunteer training requirements can be completed online at no cost, making it easy for new volunteers to get started.

Depending on the volunteer role, requirements may include:

    • Annual Volunteer Registration
    • Background Check
    • AYSO's Safe Haven Training
    • SafeSport Training
    • Role-Specific Certification Courses
    • Additional state-required safety training where applicable

Volunteer requirements help ensure a safe, positive, and protected environment for all players, families, and volunteers.
